New Board Director Appointed by Canal Insurance

Canal Insurance Company is excited to announce the addition of Patrick J Mullen to their board of directors, beginning his role on March 8, 2024. Mullen currently holds the position of director of strategic capital partnerships at Arctaris Impact Investors, a private equity firm located in Boston. He leads the company's initiatives from their Salt Lake City, Utah office.

With a background in co-founding and serving as a managing director of investing at Sorenson Impact, Mullen has also made significant contributions to the Sorenson Impact Foundation from 2010 to 2017. Notably, Mullen played a key role as chair of the Opportunity Zone Task Force for the State of Utah, where he played a vital role in attracting private capital investments into disadvantaged communities. His global experience spans various continents, where he has supported early-stage companies in regions such as India, East Africa, and Latin America.

Mullen's educational background includes a BS in finance from Westminster College, where he received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2017. Additionally, Mullen's appointment to the board is a significant moment for his family, as he becomes the first fourth-generation family member to serve on Canal Insurance Company's board of directors. In response to Mullen's appointment, Paul Brocklebank, the newly appointed chairman of Canal's board of directors, expressed confidence in Mullen's abilities.

He highlighted Mullen's entrepreneurial mindset and expertise in financial markets, emphasizing the cultural benefits of Canal being a family-owned business. Brocklebank believes that Mullen will help maintain and strengthen this aspect of the company as the first fourth-generation director.
