Texas industry professionals celebrate Lone Star Summit event

The Lone Star Summit, hosted by SIAA “ The Agent Alliance, recently concluded its inaugural event on May 1, 2024, at the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa in Texas. This unique gathering brought together independent agents from across the state, collectively representing more than $1.1 billion in total written premium.

Over the course of three days, nearly 400 participants participated in intensive workshops, strategic discussions, and networking opportunities aimed at improving business expansion and adaptability in the ever-evolving insurance market. Sessions were tailored to help agents expand their market reach and enhance operational effectiveness, providing practical strategies for growth in a changing industry landscape. The summit kicked off with the Lone Star Scramble Charity Golf Tournament, raising funds for local nonprofits chosen by SIAA's Texas master agencies.

A highlight of the event was the SHE Golfs golf clinic sponsored by Travelers Insurance, empowering women in the industry to participate in golfing events with confidence. Keynote speaker, Joan Woodward, executive vice president of public policy at Travelers, set the tone of the conference with insights on the economic and political environment affecting the industry. The event featured panel discussions and workshops on topics such as commercial lines strategies, agency perpetuation, digital marketing, and innovative insurance practices, fostering collaboration and opportunity exploration within the sector.

One significant moment at the summit was the presentation of the Lone Star Community Star Award to Myrna Estrada, senior vice president and field executive of Liberty Mutual Insurance, in recognition of her contributions to the industry and community in Texas. Ian Exelbert, SIAA's Central/West Regional President, expressed his enthusiasm for the success of the event, highlighting its importance for growth and innovation in the Texas insurance landscape. The summit concluded with an awards ceremony honoring exceptional achievements and setting a forward-looking agenda for independent agents in Texas.
